The Importance of Using Reusable Shopping Bags

Using reusable shopping bags is a simple but important way to reduce plastic waste, and it’s a habit that my family and I adopted last year. We used to use plastic bags every time we went shopping, but we realized that most of them end up in landfills or oceans, where they harm wildlife and take hundreds of years to decompose. Now, we keep a few reusable cloth bags in our car and our backpacks, so we always have them with us when we go shopping. The bags are durable and come in fun colors and patterns, and they can hold more groceries than plastic bags. Using reusable bags not only helps the environment but also saves us money—we no longer have to pay for plastic bags at the store. It’s a small change that makes a big difference.

A Visit to the Local Art Museum

Last weekend, my family and I visited the local art museum, which showcased works by local and international artists. We saw paintings, sculptures, and photographs from different periods and styles. My favorite exhibit was a collection of impressionist paintings that captured the beauty of nature with vibrant colors and soft brushstrokes. We also saw a modern art installation made from recycled materials, which made me think about environmental protection. A guide explained the stories behind some of the artworks, helping us understand the artists' intentions and emotions. This visit taught me to appreciate different forms of art and see the world through the eyes of artists. It also inspired me to be more creative in my own artwork.

My School's International Food Festival

Last week, our school held an international food festival to celebrate cultural diversity. Students from different backgrounds prepared traditional dishes from their home countries to share. I helped make Chinese dumplings with my classmates, carefully folding the wrappers around savory fillings. Other booths featured Japanese sushi, Mexican tacos, Indian curry, and Italian pasta. We also had performances of traditional dances and music from around the world. This festival was a wonderful opportunity to taste new foods and learn about different cultures. I tried kimchi for the first time and discovered that I love it! The food festival brought our school community together in celebration of our differences and shared humanity.
