My Pet Turtle, Shelly

I have a pet turtle named Shelly with a hard brown shell and small, beady eyes. Shelly lives in a spacious aquarium with a rock for sunbathing and a filter to keep the water clean. Her favorite food is fresh lettuce and small insects, which I feed her twice a day. Every afternoon, I let her crawl around the living room under supervision, watching her slowly explore every corner. Shelly is very calm and quiet, and I find it relaxing to sit by her aquarium and watch her swim. Taking care of Shelly teaches me responsibility and patience, as I have to clean her tank weekly and make sure she has fresh water and food every day. Even though she moves slowly, Shelly brings a lot of joy to our family, and she’s become a beloved member of our household.

A Visit to the Local Art Museum

Last weekend, my family and I visited the local art museum, which showcased works by local and international artists. We saw paintings, sculptures, and photographs from different periods and styles. My favorite exhibit was a collection of impressionist paintings that captured the beauty of nature with vibrant colors and soft brushstrokes. We also saw a modern art installation made from recycled materials, which made me think about environmental protection. A guide explained the stories behind some of the artworks, helping us understand the artists' intentions and emotions. This visit taught me to appreciate different forms of art and see the world through the eyes of artists. It also inspired me to be more creative in my own artwork.

My School's International Food Festival

Last week, our school held an international food festival to celebrate cultural diversity. Students from different backgrounds prepared traditional dishes from their home countries to share. I helped make Chinese dumplings with my classmates, carefully folding the wrappers around savory fillings. Other booths featured Japanese sushi, Mexican tacos, Indian curry, and Italian pasta. We also had performances of traditional dances and music from around the world. This festival was a wonderful opportunity to taste new foods and learn about different cultures. I tried kimchi for the first time and discovered that I love it! The food festival brought our school community together in celebration of our differences and shared humanity.
